Time to leave antigua nello and i decide to mission to lake Atitlan. The bus rides in Guatemala are not only full of epic views of mountains and volcanoes but they are also an adrenalin fuelled experience that keeps ur heart beating at a decent pace. Climbing over many mountains and passing through many very Guatemalan towns the bus never really ceased to amaze us at the inappropriate times it would overtake, the bad thing is that our bus was actually considerably safer than many of the other cars on the road. Its best to just focus on the insane beauty of the country side and not the cliff edge that is also the road edge.
As we came cursing around a corner after a quick couple of hours we were delighted to see probably one of the most out of control beautiful lakes which was surrounded by at least 3 volcanoes.
The driver stopped so we could get a few pics and take in the absolute awesomeness.
Arriving in town we decided to catch a boat across to san pedro another small town on the otherside of the lake, me encanta boats. It was a slightly bumpy ride as the lake had some swell caused by a bit of wind in the afternoon.
In san pedro nello and i found a place to crash for 25Q a night (i think thats like $US3 or 4) it was nothing special but u could climb up to the roof which had a view that was priceless.
As the trip to this beautiful place felt like an adventure in itself there was no need for us to do anything that night so we had some dinner and grabbed a 6pack to accompany us on the roof for some star gazing b4 heading to bed and contemplating the adventure that tomorrow will bring!!!!
With this marvellous lake beside us nelson and i decide to go for a kayak today to check out the sights, its not long walking down the street b4 a dude we had met the day b4 started offering us kayaks rather than the usual greenery the peoples on the side of the road offer, he led us down to the lake side, on the way he explained to us how the night b4 he had been to the moon, poco loco is what i wanted to nick name him. He pointed to san marcus which was just a general direction to some cliffs he said were good to jump off and suggested that they were about an hour paddle away.
About 45mins later we had slowly made our way across to the cliffs (and came to the conclusion he may have over estimated the length so we would rent the kayaks longer). Nelson had said they didn't look that big until we were getting real close.
There were 2 spots to jump off one not so high and the other much higher than anything i had previously jumped off,
nello climbed up did a back flip off the smaller one and said come on lets do the big one.
i liked his style,

at the top he yells to me its much higher than i thought but than just did it. I followed him up to the top to find this american dude looking over the edge and thinking about it, i thought to myself don't think and just jumped straight away. The air time from the perspective of the person falling is much longer than if u are watching, wondering if i was ever gonna gonna hit the water i found myself screaming something along the line of gggggggiiiiiiigggggggggaaaattttyyyyy splash!!!!!
was freakin awesome so up we went and we both jumped off together made for a wikkid pic. Other people there watching us decided to give it a go, this guy and his girlfriend were up there for ages and all of a sudden we heard a girls voice screaming jumungiiiiiiiii and we turned to see a very excited girl jumping and the face way up the cliff of a very freaked out boyfriend thinking shit now i gotta do it or i'll be shamed out. He wasn't shamed out, not to long later he found himself plummeting rather rapidly towards the awesome waters of the lake.
Returning to san pedro b4 the winds picked up it was time for some beers to celebrate our day on the lake and drink some beers we did ;)
On our final day we got a boat back across the lake to meet liam.
He arrived eventually.
So we hung out on that side of the lake for the night.
We found a tree and drank beer in it.
On our way back to Antigua
